National Policy Forum 2018
There will soon be elections for all 55 CLP representatives to serve for approximately two years on the National Policy Forum (NPF).
The NPF is the Labour Party’s rolling policymaking institution. It has 55 representatives who are elected for a two year term by the party membership on a One Member One Vote basis by region (five per region, one of whom must be a Young Labour representative, and two of the remaining four must be a woman).
The Labour left will support candidates for these positions via the Centre-Left Grassroots Alliance (CLGA). In order to identify the strongest possible candidates for these positions, Momentum is looking for applications from people who have the commitment and expertise to develop Labour’s policy on the NPF.
Please note that only applicants who meet the person specification will be considered. People who are thinking of standing as Parliamentary candidates during the two year duration of the term should not apply.
EQUALITIES AND DIVERSITY
Momentum is committed to applying its equal opportunities policy at all stages of the prioritisation of candidates and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds.
All candidates offered an interview will be asked whether they have any requirements to support them in attending the interview. Reasonable adjustments to the process will be made to ensure that no applicant is disadvantaged because of his/her disability.
Momentum aims to support candidates who are most suited to the particular position, but also to actively attract applicants from groups that we identify as being under-represented in Labour movement structures, including the NPF. This includes ensuring that left-wing representatives on the NPF are as representative as possible of the party’s membership, including women, BAME people, people from diverse regions, and from working-class backgrounds.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, please read the person specification and fill in the application form, as well as an equalities monitoring form (optional) before emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday 22nd January at 12 Midday.
Applicants will be chosen by an NCG panel, and where necessary may be asked for a follow-up interview with members of the NCG panel. Successful applicants will then be promoted by Momentum to be candidates in discussions with the CLGA, and once all the candidates are finally selected, Momentum will campaign on behalf of them.
Please note that because Momentum is only one out of a number of organisations which has input into the CLGA, gaining the support of Momentum does not guarantee getting the final support of the CLGA for these elections.
