Vote for the Grassroots 3 in Labour NEC Elections
Ballots are now live in the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) elections. This is a crucial opportunity for members to have a say on the future direction of our Party.
The NEC oversees Labour’s internal democracy, candidate selections and disciplinary processes. Electing socialist and progressive CLP reps is essential if we’re going to rebuild a democratic Labour Party rooted in its members and communities.
Momentum is backing Jess Barnard, Gemma Bolton and Yasmine Dar for re-election. They are committed to defending members’ rights, championing real Labour policies and ensuring our Party remains accountable to its grassroots base.
Make sure you vote before the deadline of midday on Thursday 27th August and encourage others to do the same. Use our ranking preference tool to give your vote maximum impact depending on your region or nation.
- Local Government Rep: Tell your local Labour Councillors to vote for Jamie Green for Local Government Representative – he’ll be a strong voice for local communities on Labour’s NEC.
- Mick Antoniw for Welsh Rep: If you’re a Welsh Labour member, use your vote for Mick Antoniw as Welsh representative on the NEC. Mick will be unafraid to stand up for Wales whilst urging Labour to stick to its founding principles. Voting for both Local Government and Welsh reps closes on 27th August.
- Unite General Secretary Election: Momentum is backing Simon Dubbins to become the next General Secretary of Unite. From standing in solidarity with Palestine to taking the fight to Reform, Simon is a committed socialist, internationalist and organiser. Are you a Unite member? Then make your vote count! Voting papers must be returned before August 11.
- Saving Labour: The Socialist Campaign Group of Labour MPs recently outlined key policies for Burnham to implement to ensure Labour delivers transformative change. They include sanctions on Israel, taxing wealth and nationalising water and energy. You can read their full manifesto in Tribune.
- Brand New Episode: The latest Labour Left Podcast is with Nadia Whittome MP, where she discusses trans rights, socialist internationalism and mood in the PLP post-Starmer. Just go to YouTube, Substack, Spotify or your favourite podcast site and search for the Labour Left Podcast.
- Labour Conference 2026: We want to hear from you! Were you elected as a CLP delegate for Conference this year? Are you aware of any socialists or progressives who were? If so, please fill in our form.
- Privatisation Has Failed: Over 160,000 people have signed a petition demanding a referendum on public ownership of water – enough to force a debate in Parliament on Monday 14th September. Ask your MP to attend the debate.
Putting Labour Democracy First
For too long, Labour members have seen Party democracy hollowed out. That’s why we have launched our Putting Labour Democracy First lobbying campaign, calling on Burnham to commit to rebuilding a democratic Labour Party.
Our campaign calls for:
- Free and fair parliamentary selections
- Pluralism in the PLP
- Democracy in Local Government selections
- Staff neutrality and due process
- Restoring One Member One Vote to key internal elections
Hundreds of members have already taken action.

Socialists win big in Democratic primaries
From Colorado to New York, progressive and democratic socialist candidates are celebrating crucial wins in Democratic primaries.
Campaigning on universal healthcare, tackling inequality and ceasing all military support to Israel, grassroots candidates have shown that voters are crying out for bold, transformative change. Their campaigns are proving that organised movements can take on the political establishment – and win.
These primary victories are a reminder that when socialists organise in our communities and put working class communities first, we can build the power needed to deliver real and lasting change.
