Momentum Statement on the 2026 Budget
Momentum Co-Chairs said:
“This Budget contains welcome measures to ease the burden on households, but the Government must embrace
far more radical solutions to deliver the change Britain desperately needs.
At Conference, Burnham won plaudits for outlining a bold vision that puts working class communities first. After years
of falling living standards, underinvestment and crippling austerity, people are not looking for half measures.
They are looking for a Labour Government that will tackle the cost of living crisis by taxing extreme wealth, bringing key
utilities back under public ownership and putting more money into people’s pockets.
Plans to drastically increase military spending by cutting already stretched public services, alongside reports of plans to open up drilling at Rosebank, are deeply concerning and will only serve to make Britain less secure.”
