In line with a constitutional change agreed under Refounding Momentum, we have now set up a new Member Democracy platform which will facilitate petitions. The OMOV threshold for a legitimate ballot has been reduced from 30 per cent to 15 per cent, in the event that the NCG has rejected a proposal that comes from members Maintaining and improving the Direct Democracy Petition system allows members the opportunity to set the agenda at any point in time, enabling them to be responsive to political events and not have to wait for a Convention every two years. The current petition system also provides a route for a constitutional amendment to pass irrespective of how the NCG or a Convention votes (including trade union affiliates), providing greater member democracy.
